Dehradun: Residents in parts of Dehradun’s Raipur area, particularly Sunderwala and around Auli Road, have raised concerns over pothole-ridden roads, stray cattle and dogs, poor street lighting and waterlogging.“Cattle are often seen on the main road and in residential colonies near Auli Road. Many people also keep cattle here and leave them to graze, making it difficult to differentiate between owned and stray cattle. Because of this, the civic body does not pay much attention to the issue,” said Gautam Majumdar, a resident near Auli Road.Residents said Raipur Road and several internal roads had deteriorated, with potholes making commuting difficult, especially during the monsoon.Shilpi Kumari said, “There are now so many small potholes that the roads are difficult to navigate. The slope makes it extremely difficult for two-wheelers to maintain their balance. Roads deteriorate further after every spell of rain.” She called for immediate repairs as well as a long-term solution.Towards Khalanga, residents said poor street lighting, stray dogs and waterlogging were major concerns. Sunderwala resident Sneha Raj said heavy rain causes the Rispana stream to swell, with water flowing onto Nalapani Road, Sunderwala and nearby areas.“Moreover, at night, it does not feel safe to step out because there are many stray dogs in the area and there are no proper streetlights,” she said.Raj also raised concerns over residents feeding stray dogs and cattle on roads. “Many residents feed stray dogs and cattle anywhere on the road, which is why so many of them are roaming around. There should be designated feeding spots to minimise inconvenience to the public,” she said.Area councillor Kapil Dhar said, “Some potholes on the main Raipur Road had been filled with interlocking tiles, but the stretch from Kidduwala towards Shiv Mandir remains in poor condition.”On stray cattle, Dhar said there were no designated feeding points and that residents who left their cattle to graze during the day were adding to the problem.
