Second sexual assault case involving minor in North Delhi
The case has emerged days after the alleged gang-rape and murder of a teenage girl in Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar.
Her decomposed body was discovered in an open field near Kushak Road on September 13. Police subsequently apprehended four people, including three juveniles, in connection with the case.
The Statesman had earlier reported that investigators examined footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras before a tempo seen near the field helped them trace the suspects.
Police said the girl knew the accused. She was allegedly sexually assaulted and stabbed before her body was abandoned in the field. Parts of the body were later found mutilated by stray dogs.
The three juvenile suspects are aged 16 and 17, while the adult accused is 19. Police are seeking to have the juveniles tried as adults in the case.
