A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing Yuva Sena district chief Vikram Randhave entering Chief Officer Dheeraj Bhamre’s office carrying bags. He then opened the bags and released the dogs inside the room, including around the officer’s table.
A protest over the growing stray-dog problem in Maharashtra’s Nashik district took an unusual turn when Shiv Sena (UBT) Yuva Sena members allegedly released stray dogs inside the office of the Niphad Nagar Panchayat chief officer.
As part of the demonstration, Randhave also placed a garland made of currency notes on the chief officer’s table.

The animals appeared unsettled as they moved around the room. One of the dogs appeared frightened and moved towards a corner, while another roamed inside the room. The protestors also placed garlands made of currency notes on Bhamre’s table as a mark of protest against the functioning of the civic body.
The protest was organised to highlight what Randhave alleged was the civic administration’s failure to address the stray-dog problem despite repeated complaints from residents.

Randhave claimed that more than 400 stray dogs are roaming in the Nagar Panchayat area and alleged that over 100 people suffer dog-bite injuries every month.
Dr Rajiv Tambale of Niphad Sub-District Hospital said that around five to six dog-bite victims visit the hospital every day for treatment, according to The Indian Express. He said anti-rabies vaccines were available at the hospital.
Randhave also raised the issue during the ongoing Ganeshotsav celebrations, claiming that residents visiting Ganesh mandals were facing fear and inconvenience because of the presence of stray dogs.
The protesters demanded immediate steps, including sterilisation drives, proper dog-catching arrangements and measures to control the stray-dog population.
Randhave reportedly warned that if the administration failed to address the issue, he would repeat the protest and once again release stray dogs inside the Chief Officer’s office in the presence of citizens.
Bhamra later assured them that the administration would immediately take action against the issue and said that the Nagar Panchayat had already initiated measures for the sterilisation of stray dogs.
Randhave said the issue had become a concern for children, senior citizens and motorists, with some dog-bite victims requiring anti-rabies treatment.
