Hyderabad: Telangana State unit President N Ramchander Rao called for the immediate implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in Telangana, asserting that the law is designed to grant crucial legal rights to women and children, and is not directed against any religion or caste.
Speaking at a cadre training camp in Moinabad on Thursday, Rao emphasised that the UCC would ensure vital property and adoption rights. He clarified that the law is not against any community, bringing every citizen except tribals under a single framework while respecting unique Scheduled Tribe traditions.
He noted women nationwide welcomed the abolition of Triple Talaq. Rao drew parallels to the abrogation of Article 370, pointing to Uttarakhand, Goa, and Assam as states that have already successfully adopted the measure.
Rao also addressed recent controversies around the Voters’ List Purification, welcoming the Supreme Court’s verdict and accusing the Congress, BRS, and Majlis parties of spreading deliberate misinformation. He criticised opposition parties for their newfound objections to SIR, noting their silence during previous Congress-led purges. Turning to state issues, Rao accused both Congress and BRS of completely neglecting students, the unemployed, and local farmers. He lamented the government’s failure to deliver on key fee reimbursements and the Rs 15,000 Rythu Bharosa promise to farmers, as well as its inability to pay salaries and pensions on time.
Recent unseasonal rains, he added, have left cultivators in deep distress as crops remain unsold. Rao reiterated the BJP’s support for farmers and warned against attempts to intimidate party members.
He credited Narendra Modi’s leadership for Telangana’s development and urged workers to establish a double-engine government.
