A group of protestors in Maharashtra’s Nashik district recently met a civil official and released stray dogs on his table to highlight the stray dog menace within the jurisdiction of the Niphad Nagar Panchayat.

The protest was held by members of the Yuva Sena (UBT), the youth wing of the Shiv Sena (UBT), on Wednesday, alleging inaction by authorities, reports said.

In a video gaining significant attention on social media platforms, a few people can be seen carrying two sacks into the office of Dheeraj Bhamre, chief officer of the Niphad Nagar Panchayat. Soon after, they untied the sacks and released the stray dogs from it.

Talking about the protest, they have claimed that despite repeated requests, the authorities did not take any action to control the stray dog menace. Further, they alleged that dogs have bitten several citizens and pose an even greater risk to the public, especially children, during the ongoing Ganesh festival in Maharashtra.

Yuva Sena (UBT) district chief Vikram Randhave told Bhamre that if the authorities fail to solve the problem in two days, then they will bring more people, including women, to protest.

Meanwhile, the chief officer highlighted that a tender for addressing the issue had been floated twice.
